The Boy on the Bridge Review

The Boy on the Bridge
Author: Natalie Standiford
Synopsis from Goodreads:

Laura Reid goes to Leningrad for a semester abroad as Cold War paranoia is peaking in 1982. She meets a young Russian artist named Alexei and soon, with Alexei as her guide, Laura immerses herself in the real Russia--a crazy world of wild parties, black-market books and music, and smuggled letters to dissidents. She must keep the relationship secret; associating with Americans is dangerous for Alexei, and if caught, Laura could be sent home and Alexei put under surveillance or worse. At the same time, she's been warned that Soviets often latch onto Americans in hopes of marrying them and thus escaping to the United States. But she knows Alexei loves her. Right?......

My Review:

Laura Reid when she was little girl was captivated with all the things about Russia, from the history to their literature. But then when she arrived in Russia, she was so much disappointed, all she saw around her was ugliness and depressing conformity. She doesn’t know if she could survive there for the whole semester that she even wanted to go home for her first two weeks. But then, all was gone when she met this young Russian boy named Alexei aka Alyosha. Laura is madly in love with Alyosha. Laura would continue to take a phone booth just to call Alyosha and they go meet somewhere. Laura even Skipped her classes and Lie to her roommate just to be with Alyosha. hough doubts creep her about the feelings of him towards her one time. There was a time that she was confused about Alyosha. She thought of him just playing with her feelings just like all the Americans he met as his friend said. She thought that he was just using her to leave Russia.

Alyosha is a young handsome artist who admires the things about Americans. Alyosha Loves Laura so much that even though the idea of seeing each other is dangerous, he still makes plan just to see her and meet her. He let Laura keep a key of his apartment. In his apartment, there are so much stuff from his American friends that they would let him keep as they leave Russia. One time, Alyosha told Laura his dream of living in San Francisco with her. Then there was the most romantic time when Alyosha asked Laura to marry him.

They love story ended with Laura holding his love and Alyosha holding her love.

Their Love story is all about trust. Trusting each would definitely make a relationship survive. Confusion will lead to the dissolution of the relationship.

How to Say Goodbye in Robot Review

How to Say Goodbye in Robot
Author: Natalie Standiford

Beatrice is new to town. She’s expecting her new best friend to be one of the girls she meets on her first day in school. But for a reason, her seat is next to Jonah the G-g-g-ghost Boy- a quiet loner boy who hasn't made friends since his twin death in third grade. Then here goes the exception of Bea. Their friendship started with the paper jet from Jonah with a message for Bea telling about 1120 AM- a radio show at midnight.
Their friendship is so much different to others. They do help and hurt the feelings of each other. Bea helps Jonah seeing his brother; trying to make plan to get out Jonah’s brother. Jonah would say things that will totally hurt Bea but Bea would always be there waiting for him. Jonah tells secrets to her that nobody knew. They keep their male-female friendship, they do not date but there’s love in their relationship.
This is the first ever book of Natalie Standiford that I’ve read and It is so amazing. I am wrapped with a great emotion when I read this. This book will make you keep reading till the end because you’ll want to know so much about the revelations, because you might want to know what will happen to Bea and Jonah. The book is not totally about romance, it is Love. You’ll love it.

***this is my first ever review of a book. :)
